Well, buckle up folks because I’m about to spill the tea on a golf fitting experience that was nothing short of amazing! I’m talking about the True Spec Golf fitting experience. Trust me when I say this, it’s like stepping into a pro level facility, with all the latest tech at your fingertips.

First off, let me paint a picture of True Spec’s fitting studio. It’s like golf’s version of NASA. State-of-the-art club fitting tools, launch monitors, and a colossal library of head and shaft options. It was as if I’d walked into golf heaven. I mean, where else can you find over 30,000 possible club combinations?

The True Spec team kicked things off with a detailed discussion about my current golf game, what I liked about my equipment, and what I was hoping to improve. My master fitter was none other than Shaun Fagan. Talk about top notch experience, he has even fitted Major champions! His attention to detail was mind-boggling! It wasn’t just about finding me new clubs, but enhancing my entire golfing experience.

Next up was hitting balls with my current clubs. They used a Quad launch monitor to assess my swing and collect data. It was pure tech wizardry! The launch monitor didn’t miss a beat, recording every minute detail of my swing. This wasn’t your ordinary driving range session, this was a deep dive into the nuts and bolts of my game!

Then came the fun part – testing the new club combinations. It was a mix and match fiesta, but under the guidance of my fitter, it was more than just trying different clubs. Each club was carefully chosen based on my swing data. The precision of the process had me awestruck. It felt like a bespoke suit fitting, only for my golf game!

After what felt like swinging a hundred clubs, we finally narrowed it down to a set that felt like they were made for me. It was a revelation, a golfing epiphany! I’ve played golf for years, but never had a set of clubs felt so right, so ‘me’.

Throughout the fitting, I was incredibly impressed by the team’s knowledge and professionalism. Their singular focus was to improve my game, and boy, did they deliver! I walked out feeling like a pro, armed with clubs that felt like a natural extension of me.

I left True Spec so excited for my new clubs. I couldn’t wait! But of course I had to. It takes a few weeks to get them delivered to my house. I had learned so much about my swing, about how the right equipment can drastically change the game. It’s not just hype, folks! The True Spec Golf fitting is a game-changer, a journey of self-discovery on the golf course, and a true testament to how personalized the sport can be. Trust me, once you’ve been True Spec’d, there’s no turning back!

Girls that golf, or at least like it?

Chicks dig golf. I’m not even talking about the LPGA. I know, it’s unbelievable. I didn’t believe it at first either. I know a girl who sometimes watches 6 hours of golf on TV in a weekend. It’s crazy. Now is this the making of a perfect woman? Let’s see…

First, she watches for the guys. This isn’t hard to believe since girls think about guys all the time and guys think about girls nonstop. My friend likes Sergio Garcia and Camillo Villegas. No surprise there. But WTF? They’re not just pieces of meat out there?? Ok, so that doesn’t help much because in the back of our minds we’ll know that she’s checking them out. But then again, what does she think when we watch Two and a Half Men, Baywatch, or anything with Jessica Alba?

Second, she doesn’t even play the game. This boggles the mind. It’s one thing to watch a sport that you have some experience in, but to just watch for the sheer enjoyment of it? This one really surprised me, but apparently it’s the truth. She has hit the driving range before at least, but doesn’t play.

My question is, how did all this start? Was it just a Sunday tradition at home or something? It had to come from somewhere. I didn’t watch golf until I started playing, but before that I never really had an inclination to watch. Maybe it’s because she’s just a sports fan? My friend is indeed a sports fan of a very high caliber. This is a plausible explanation and adds something extra to her persona. She is also competitive and doesn’t like to lose, another good thing in my book.

When discussing this with another friend of mine, he said he used to date a girl that only wanted to go out to eat and play golf. He said it was like dating himself, which I guess could be good or bad. When that relationship finally didn’t work out, it was a struggle for him to leave her. I don’t think he left because of the golf.

So is this an essential ingredient in making a perfect woman? You’ll have to investigate that on a case by case basis. In the end, if you find a woman that lets you watch golf at all, enjoy it. If you find one that’ll watch with you, you’re blessed twice over. But if you find a woman like European Tour Player Maria Verchenova, who can teach you all you need to know about golf AND looks like that…who really cares what’s on TV anyway??

Putting Distance Control

This weekend I played the Gold Course at Camp Lejeune. I hadn’t played there in awhile and it was fun. This round I really wanted to concentrate on my putting and especially my distance control. My last few rounds have been riddled with three putts. I’ve been hitting greens, but my long lag putts have be difficult for me to get close. These are strokes I’m giving away! So this is what I did…

Longer putts require longer strokes. Shorter putts require shorter strokes, especially the backswing. I’m a pretty intellectual player so I took this to heart a few years ago. I actually started quantifying how long I want my back swing based on how long the putt was. For example, if the putt was 10 feet, I may take a 1 foot backswing. Then if I have a 20 feet putt, I’d take a 2 foot backswing. I would then adjust my stroke depending on the speed of the greens each day. The result was closer lag putting and less three putting.

I had moved away from that recently and was putting more based on feel. However, many times I would focus on the line and forget about distance. The result was more three putts.

So this weekend I started quantifying my backstroke again and it worked. I was taking a foot backswing for about 12-14 feet on flat ground. If the putt is downhill or uphill, I would add or subtract. It’s like my own personal stimp meter. If I knew the stimp meter measurements, I’m sure I could use that in my calculations. In any case, I had no three putts and made an 8 and 13 footer. Gotta be happy with that!
