Wow, Rory McIlroy with the lead at the US Open after shooting 6 under. It’s like he’s all they’re talking about on TV and rightly so. He was playing out of his gourd yet again. It’s another major and another incredible round for the young Irishman. Of course, given what happened at the Master’s, there’s no telling what the weekend may bring. However, if he keeps shooting rounds this low in Majors, he’s sure to end up with the trophy at the end of one of ‘em.
My favorite thing about Rory McIlroy is his swing. If someone came up to me and said “hey, dude, you can have the swing of any player on the PGA tour”, I’d have to say Rory McIlroy’s. It wouldn’t be Tiger Woods’ because it seems so difficult to do and he keeps changing it anyway. So if he’s not satisfied, then maybe that’s not the swing I want. I don’t want Phil’s swing either because he’s a lefty and his swing has just never appealed to me. The Big Easy has a sweet swing that I’d take, especially because he makes it look so..well..easy! Plus, back in the day Ernie was an awesome player! Wait, he’s still an awesome player! Another swing that I’ve always liked was Freddie Couples’. He’s always had that effortless power thing going and he seems like a fantastic guy to go get a beer and hang out with. Anyway, the point is, I’d love to have Rory’s swing! It’s so smooth and his rhythm is so great! It’s Nair smooth, triple blade smooth, even George Clooney smooth! And his balance is so, uh, balanced!
Well, you get the picture. So just like everyone else, I’ll be waiting with bated breath to see what happens this weekend. Oh, but another favorite thing about Rory McIlroy is that his name is so close to Roy McAvoy! Now there was a player…
